When you have stairs and landings as good as this you should make a feature of them. We chose a light neutral coloured carpet to keep the feeling of space. We then added a coordinating edging to the stair runner to complement the oak flooring. The final detail was using the stair rods, the dark metal contrasted against the carpet and gave a traditional look to tie in with the rest of the house.
