Twist Carpet

The popular twist pile carpet can come in a huge variety of colours and finishes. Ranging from loose twists giving a rugged natural look, to very tight twists which give a plush appearance.

They can be made from synthetic fibres, wool or a combination of the two. The commonly used mixture is 80% wool, 20% synthetic. This gives a soft natural feel due to the wool, as well as durability from the synthetic element.

Our brands include Cavalier, Hugh MacKay, Penthouse, Victoria & Westex.

Loop Pile Carpet

Looped carpet, often referred to as a Berber, can either be constructed as one level or multi levels. A level loop is where all the loops are the same height. This creates a practical and durable carpet, which can be made from synthetic fibres, wool or a combination of the two.

Alternatively, there is a multi level loop. In this case the height of the loop is varied to create a more patterned effect. One of the benefits of this random effect is that it can be very forgiving in high traffic areas.

Our brands include Gaskell, Hammer, Kingsmead, ManxTomkinson, Riviera & Ulster.

Soft Touch Carpet

These are the new kids on the block as far as carpets go. They are generally all man made fibres with the majority having the benefit of being bleach cleanable. So great if you have children or pets.

Most have a longer pile creating a luxurious, fluffy feel which is very soft under foot. They are incredibly hard wearing due to the yarns being twisted. Being heat set the carpet fibres are locked together.

These carpets can be used throughout the home, however due to its nature it can show footprints and vacuum marks.

Our brands include Abingdon, Associated Weavers, Balta, Cormar & Lifestyle.

Axminster Carpet

Weaving carpets is still regarded as the traditional way of manufacturing. Woven products are generally 80% Wool & 20% Nylon making them extremely hard wearing.

Axminsters typically have patterns ranging from the very traditional panels and floral design to the more modern trellis, stripes and plaids.

Due to the heritage of this style of carpet, and its versatility, it is often used in the most prestigious installations.

Our brands include Axminster, Brintons, Nourison & Ulster.
